This layout was done by me, despite the fact that I don't have a personal need (at least at this time!) for China layouts. Occasionally I will do one from another country and then either auction it off or offer it to the first "taker". :)
The layout is very flexible. It begins with a sheet of handmade paper, red with gold tinsel fibers. It is slot punched in the upper corners, which allows the vellum to be placed on the page. The vellum has printed on it the legend of the Chinese zodiac in an Asian font. The legend is adhered in the lower corners with gold mini-brads. There are two items which are mounted on black cardstock of equal size. The one on the right is a Chinese paper cut from the "New Years" set from my site. It was affixed to metallic gold paper using acid-free spray adhesive and then mounted to the black cardstock. On the left, there is a smaller piece of the handmade paper on which I used the paper tearing effect (the handmade paper comes with a "torn" looking edge but I had to cut a piece the size I wanted and then I did the tearing to give it the same appearance as the outside edge of the page). It also is matted with black cardstock. I left room at the top to write (with a gold gel pen) : "Born in the year of the..." and below that appears the word "Horse" and a pewter charm that is the character for "horse". (I sell charms for all of the Chinese zodiac.)
The charm is affixed to the page with red craft wire through a small pierced hole in the matted cardstock.
The overall design is 8.5 x 8.5 inches so it can be used on either size page and have a little room left at the bottom of the page for additional journaling, if desired, or a photo. |
